School Programs

Learning comes to life at Redlands Coast Museum — through hands-on tours, curriculum kits, and student experiences.

Guided School Tours

Tours are tailored for students of all ages, with a special focus on Year 1 and 2. Children explore life in the past through hands-on displays like the old schoolroom. kitchen and laundry displays, transport and more.

Each tour ends with a lively performance of the Chicken Dance on the Pianola — a fun highlight where teachers, parents, and students all join in.

School Curriculum Kits

Can’t bring your students to the museum? We’ll bring the museum to your classroom.

Our Curriculum Loan Kits are designed for schools unable to visit in person. Each themed kit includes around ten real artefacts, aligned with the Australian Curriculum, along with background info, worksheets, and focus questions developed by educators.

Student Work Experience

For Year 10 and 11 students, the museum provides meaningful work experience placements that go beyond observation.

Participants take part in real projects — from helping catalogue artefacts and set up exhibitions, to greeting visitors and working alongside volunteers. The focus is on developing teamwork, communication, and self-directed learning through tasks with purpose.

Interested students can apply directly through their school or contact the museum team for details.
