Giving back to the Community

Overview

For 54 years, Redlands Coast Museum has engaged with our community by holding exhibitions, workshops & forums, tours, concerts and plays and coordinating with local event operators and on our social media sites.

In the last financial year, we have undertaken successful partnership initiatives with Redland City Council and their Libraries Local History unit as well as Redfest and the Redlands Caravan & Camping Show.

We also participate in a regular History and Heritage Round Table discussion meetings with the Redland City Council Local History unit and other local history organisations on the Redlands Coast.

In June 2024, we hosted Rotary members and guests, with proceeds being directed to the Black Dog Institute, and we similarly assisted Probus Clubs of Redlands in October 2023 for Senior’s Month by running a “Teddy Bears Picnic” at the Museum, with each of the teddy bears collected, donated to the Redlands Hospital Neo Natal Ward.

Redlands Coast Museum works alongside and in collaboration with many local community groups, including:

  • Redlands Model Railway Club
  • Southern Moreton Bay Islands Museum
  • Theatre Redlands
  • Rotary Club of Cleveland
  • Bayside District Amateur Radio Society (BDARS)

An annual Australia Day Play has been produced by Mates Theatre Genesis for Redlands Coast Museum for many years, and in 2024, the comedy production “Farmer Will Swap Combine Harvester for Wife” played to sold out audiences and received great reviews.

We offer Community Group Associate Memberships for the following groups:

  • National Trust Redlands Community Group
  • 23 Squadron RAAF Association
  • North Stradbroke Island Museum
  • Coochiemudlo Island Historical Association

During the past year, Redlands Coast Museum has provided booths with volunteers to support the following public events:

  • Wellington Point Traders Christmas Markets
  • Volunteering Redlands celebration and award ceremony at Raby Bay
  • NAIDOC Week Celebration

We are always keen to collaborate with community and business organisations. We are members of the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce, and we have a policy of local procurement where possible.
