1965 Mini Minor Deluxe – Restoration Project

Overview

1965 Mini Minor Deluxe – Restoration Project

A beloved icon of motoring history, the 1965 Mini Minor Deluxe has been part of the Redlands Coast Museum collection since 2011. Donated by its original owner, this classic car has delighted visitors for more than a decade. In 2024, the museum has launched a major project to restore the Mini to its former glory.

Why the Mini Matters

The Morris Mini is more than just a car – it represents an era of ingenuity, innovation, and cultural change. Small, stylish, and efficient, the Mini became an international symbol of 1960s British engineering and has held a special place in automotive history ever since.

Our 1965 model is part of that story. After years on display, however, our Mini now shows signs of wear. Its paintwork is damaged, and several components require careful repair.

The Restoration Plan

The museum’s volunteers – many with experience in car repair and Mini restoration – are leading the project. Their work will include:

  • Removing the engine and seats.
  • Repainting the body in its original blue colour.
  • Checking, repairing, and reinstalling the engine and other components.

This painstaking process will ensure the Mini is restored to a high standard, enhancing the museum’s collection and creating a more engaging experience for visitors.

Community Support

This project is made possible through the skills and dedication of our volunteers – but it also relies on the generosity of our community. We invite individuals and businesses to join us in supporting the restoration of this historic car.

Your support will help us preserve a rare piece of motoring history for future generations.
